Overview
Eastport is about as far northeast as you can get in the United States, perched on Moose Island with views into Canada across Passamaquoddy Bay. This former sardine canning capital has reinvented itself as an arts community, with galleries, studios, and the Tides Institute showcasing local creativity. The Old Sow, the Western Hemispheres largest tidal whirlpool, churns in the bay when conditions are right—a reminder that nature runs the show here.
