The Virgin Voyages MNVV offer — officially called “My Next Virgin Voyage” — is the single best deal available to Sailors who are currently onboard. For a $150 deposit, you lock in up to $500 in combined savings on a future voyage. But the offer is only available while you’re on the ship, and there are rules, restrictions, and insider strategies that determine whether you squeeze every dollar of value out of it — or leave money on the table.
This guide breaks down exactly how the MNVV onboard offer works, what it’s worth by voyage length, how to buy it, which cabins qualify, and the repricing strategy that makes it even more valuable than the sticker price suggests. For a broader look at every way to save, check out the complete Virgin Voyages deals and discounts guide.
The value of an MNVV scales with how long your future voyage is. Every MNVV includes two components: a voyage fare discount (applied to the price of the cruise) and Sailor Loot (onboard credit you can spend during the sailing).
| Future Voyage Length | Fare Discount | Sailor Loot | Total Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4–5 nights | $150 | $150 | $300 |
| 6–8 nights | $200 | $200 | $400 |
| 9+ nights | $250 | $250 | $500 |
Your $150 deposit doubles as a down payment on the future booking. On a 9+ night voyage, you’re turning $150 into $500 in total value — a $250 fare reduction plus $250 to spend onboard on drinks, spa treatments, Redemption Spa sessions, Shore Things, tattoos, and more.
Pro Tip: Only one MNVV can be applied per future reservation. If you buy four onboard, that’s four separate future bookings you can discount — not $2,000 off a single voyage.
There are two ways to purchase the MNVV offer while you’re sailing:
You must use a personal credit or debit card in your own name. Corporate cards and business cards are not accepted. The name on the card must match the Sailor purchasing the MNVV to be approved and processed. A friend or family member back home generally cannot complete the purchase on your behalf.
You can buy up to four MNVVs per Sailor per sailing. Virgin limits purchases to a maximum of four (4) offers per Sailor while onboard.
Pro Tip: Buy your MNVVs yourself, on your own credit card. This matters more than you’d think — keep reading the repricing section below.
When you purchase an MNVV onboard, you have two options:
Most Sailors choose the placeholder route. It gives you maximum flexibility — you can wait for a sale, shop for the perfect itinerary, or even transfer the MNVV to a friend or family member.
The published savings — up to $500 — are significant on their own. But the real power of the MNVV becomes clear when your First Mate uses it as part of a repricing strategy.
Virgin Voyages adjusts prices frequently. When a price drops after you’ve booked, your First Mate can reprice your booking to capture the lower fare. The MNVV deposit plays a specific role in how that refund is processed.
Virgin typically refunds adjustments to the original form(s) of payment on the reservation. If an MNVV deposit was used, some or all of a repricing refund may go back to the credit card that purchased the MNVV deposit — not necessarily the card that paid the voyage balance. If someone else bought the MNVV for you, that refund may go to their card.
Pro Tip: This is exactly why you should always buy your own MNVV on your own card. When prices drop and your First Mate reprices, the first $150 in savings flows directly back to you. No chasing refunds from someone else’s card.
Because the offer requires the Sailor’s name to match the personal form of payment, travel advisors generally can’t buy MNVVs in large quantities on behalf of future clients. The offer must be booked under the name of the Sailor onboard the ship, and payment must match the purchaser’s name. Purchases that don’t follow these rules may be declined.
This makes it even more important to buy your own MNVVs before you disembark. Once you leave the ship, the onboard offer is gone.
The MNVV can be applied to most cabin categories on your future booking, but there are notable exclusions. For the full breakdown, see our dedicated guide on which cabins qualify for an MNVV.
Eligible:
Excluded:
If you’re considering an Lock It In rate for your future booking, the MNVV cannot be applied to it. Lock It In fares are deeply discounted and excluded from the offer entirely.
Your MNVV placeholder is valid for 2 years from the date of purchase. Your future voyage must commence on or before the expiration date — not just be booked by then. If the 2-year window passes without a completed sailing, the offer expires and your $150 deposit is forfeited.
If you need to cancel, timing matters:
For the full cancellation breakdown — including what happens after you’ve applied your MNVV to a specific booking — read what happens to your MNVV if you cancel.
Once you convert your placeholder into an actual booking, additional restrictions apply based on which fare tier you select.
The fare tier you choose on your future booking directly impacts your flexibility. If you value the ability to change dates, avoid Base fare for MNVV bookings.
Virgin also offers a post-voyage version of the MNVV, but it’s a different — and less valuable — product. If you didn’t buy onboard, you have 14 days after disembarkation to register with a $150 deposit.
The key difference: the post-voyage offer only includes Sailor Loot (onboard credit), not the voyage fare discount. On a 9+ night sailing, that’s up to $250 in onboard credit — compared to $500 total with the onboard version.
| MNVV Version | Fare Discount | Sailor Loot | Max Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Onboard (while sailing) | Up to $250 | Up to $250 | $500 |
| Post-Voyage (within 14 days) | None | Up to $250 | $250 |
The post-voyage offer is better than nothing, but it’s worth half as much. Buy onboard if at all possible.
The MNVV can be combined with some current Virgin Voyages promotions. However, it’s explicitly excluded from deeply discounted rates:
Only one MNVV can be applied per reservation — this includes all MNVV variants (onboard and post-voyage). The MNVV can be applied to a new reservation within a group shell, but it cannot be retroactively added to an existing booking.
Not the onboard version. The full MNVV offer — with both the fare discount and Sailor Loot — is only available while you’re sailing. After disembarkation, you have 14 days to register for the post-voyage version, which only includes Sailor Loot (no fare discount).
Yes — if you cancel within 7 days of registration, you receive a full refund to your original payment method. After 7 days, the $150 converts to a Future Voyage Credit valid for 1 year, and the MNVV benefits (fare discount + Sailor Loot) are forfeited.
Contact your First Mate at Serious Sailors. They’ll help you select the right ship, itinerary, and cabin category, then apply your MNVV to the new booking. Your First Mate from the original voyage is automatically notified when you register for the offer.
Any Sailor currently sailing on a Virgin Voyages ship. The moment you disembark, you’re no longer eligible. There’s no status requirement, no minimum cabin category on your current voyage, and no Sailing Club tier needed.
Up to 4 per Sailor per sailing. Each one applies to a separate future reservation — you cannot stack multiple MNVVs on the same booking.
The Virgin Voyages MNVV offer turns $150 into up to $500 in savings — and becomes even more powerful when your First Mate uses it as part of a repricing strategy. Buy your own, buy all four, and buy them before you walk off the ship. It’s the smartest $150 you’ll spend on your entire voyage.
Ready to put your MNVVs to work on your next sailing? Your Serious Sailors™ First Mate can help you find the right voyage, apply your offer, and monitor for price drops. See why we recommend buying all four.
