SERIOUS SAILORS SCORE 3.2
Serious Sailors Score
Solid pick
Motion Poor Noise Very Good Location Very Good
Motion — Poor

Motion on a ship is felt most strongly at the bow and on the upper decks, and it settles toward the middle and lower decks. Cabin 14326Z sits forward on Deck 14, toward the bow where the hull meets wave action first, though its higher deck adds a little more sway in a swell. Motion is the real trade-off here — some extra sway up on a higher deck in rough seas and a bit more pitching at the forward end — and you can expect to feel the ship work whenever the water is anything but calm. If you are sensitive to it, a mid-ship cabin on a lower deck is the safer choice.

Noise — Very Good

How quiet a cabin feels comes down to what surrounds it — the nearest venues, the busiest elevator banks, and whatever sits directly above or below. Cabin 14326Z sits forward on Deck 14, at the quiet front of the ship and away from the main evening venues. Deck 14 sits directly beneath the pool deck, which can bring some daytime sound from above. Overall it stays quiet, with only mild sound during the busiest daytime hours. The one thing to know is its closeness to a few of the ship's livelier venues and occasional overhead sound from the pool deck above, though it rarely amounts to much.

Location — Very Good

Location really comes down to how far you are from the places you use most — the main dining rooms, the pool deck, and the gangway on port days. Cabin 14326Z sits forward on Deck 14, with quick access to the forward elevators and close proximity to the pool deck. Keeping the forward venues close at hand is what earns it a strong location score. The main trade-off is proximity to a higher-traffic stretch of the deck and a longer elevator ride down to most dining, plus a longer haul to the aft pool and dining, but for sailors happy to base themselves forward it is an easy one to accept.

What we love

Things to know

  • Close to a high traffic area
  • Higher deck - more sway in rough seas
  • Forward location - more pitching motion
  • Below pool deck - possible overhead noise
The cabin

The cabin, told straight.

The XL Sea Terrace is one of Virgin's most-booked cabins. Cabin 14326Z delivers it from a forward, starboard side position on Deck 14.

The XL Sea Terrace gives you suite-style space without the suite price. A larger-than-standard private terrace and roomy interior deliver true indoor/outdoor living: flexible sleeping for couples or families, generous storage, a marble bathroom with premium fixtures, and lounge-ready terrace seating with ocean views. Ideal for Sailors who want outdoor space and extra room.

“We rate every cabin the way we'd brief a friend — motion, noise and location first, marketing never. Cabin 14326Z earns its 3.2.”
— The Serious Sailors crew

About the cabin number itself: the letter at the end of every XL Sea Terrace tells you which side of the ship you're on. A-suffixed cabins sit on the port side (left, facing forward); Z-suffixed cabins sit on the starboard side (right). Cabin 14326Z ends in Z, so it’s a starboard-side cabin — its mirror twin 14326A is the identical layout on port.

What makes 14326Z specific is its placement. Forward means a little more pitch in a swell, but quieter corridors. Deck 14 sets your elevator distance to dining and the pool deck. the "Z" suffix puts you on the starboard side (right, facing forward). Cabin 14326Z also puts the pool deck only a short stroll away. In cabin 14326Z, the foot of the bed faces forward toward the bow, so you fall asleep with the wake behind you and wake up looking out toward the ocean ahead of the ship. Because the bed sits closer to the terrace, the cabin-door side has noticeably more floor clearance — useful for keeping luggage near the entry or moving around without stepping past the bed at night. The queen bed also splits into two twins at no extra charge — just request that setup before you sail.
