SERIOUS SAILORS SCORE 4
Serious Sailors Score
Excellent pick
Motion Excellent Noise Good Location Very Good
Motion — Excellent

Motion on a ship is felt most strongly at the bow and on the upper decks, and it settles toward the middle and lower decks. Cabin 5250Z sits aft on Deck 5, toward the stern, which generally rides easier than the forward end, with a lower deck working in its favor. All of which makes for an exceptionally steady ride — sailors here point to the steady ride that comes with a midship position and the extra stability of a lower deck when seas pick up, and it would take genuinely rough water to notice much else.

Noise — Good

How quiet a cabin feels comes down to what surrounds it — the nearest venues, the busiest elevator banks, and whatever sits directly above or below. Cabin 5250Z sits at the aft end of Deck 5, well clear of the ship's late-night venues and the busy mid-ship elevators. Overall it stays quiet, with only mild sound during the busiest daytime hours. The one thing to know is some sound during show times from the venues above and loud late nights directly below The Manor nightclub, though it rarely amounts to much.

Location — Very Good

Location really comes down to how far you are from the places you use most — the main dining rooms, the pool deck, and the gangway on port days. Cabin 5250Z sits at the aft end of Deck 5, with being among the closest cabins to the forward elevators and being close to dining and entertainment on a lower deck. Keeping the back-of-ship venues close at hand is what earns it a strong location score. Just about everywhere aboard stays within a comfortable walk.

What we love

  • More space than other cabins of this type
  • Close to elevators
  • Near pools
  • Midship location - most stable, least motion
  • Lower deck - more stability in rough seas
  • Lower deck - close to dining and entertainment

Things to know

  • Below entertainment venues - possible late night noise
  • Directly below nightclub - loud late nights
The cabin

The cabin, told straight.

The Sea View is one of Virgin's most-booked cabins. Cabin 5250Z delivers it from an aft, starboard side position on Deck 5.

The Sea View cabin pairs smart design with a real ocean view. A large porthole lets in natural light, while the flexible queen bed (convertible to two twins), mood lighting, and clever storage keep the space calm and functional. Expect a spa-style shower, premium linens, mini-fridge, and USB charging—plus complimentary Wi-Fi and all Virgin Voyages essentials. Perfect for Sailors who want daylight and sea views without paying balcony prices.

“We rate every cabin the way we'd brief a friend — motion, noise and location first, marketing never. Cabin 5250Z earns its 4.”
— The Serious Sailors crew

About the cabin number itself: the letter at the end of every Sea View tells you which side of the ship you're on. A-suffixed cabins sit on the port side (left, facing forward); Z-suffixed cabins sit on the starboard side (right). Cabin 5250Z ends in Z, so it’s a starboard-side cabin — its mirror twin 5250A is the identical layout on port.

What makes 5250Z specific is its placement. Aft puts you near the wake views, with the occasional gentle engine hum on lower decks. Deck 5 sets your elevator distance to dining and the pool deck. the "Z" suffix puts you on the starboard side (right, facing forward). It sits directly beneath The Manor, where late nights can carry a club beat, too. Prefer to compare the whole category? See every Sea View cabin →
