Overview

Dominica is not your typical beach destination; its an adventurers dream. Roseau, the islands small and vibrant capital, is a charming mix of French colonial and West Indian architecture, between the mountains and the sea. But the city is just the starting point. The real main attraction is the islands raw, dramatic interior. Hike through the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to see the otherworldly, steam-covered Boiling Lake. Swim in the emerald-green pool of the Emerald Pool, or snorkel through champagne bubbles rising from volcanic vents in the seafloor. This is an island that will leave you breathless.

  • Boiling Lake
For the serious hiker, this 6-hour round-trip trek is one of the Caribbeans most challenging and rewarding. The trail leads through. the Valley of Desolation to the world's second-largest boiling lake, a flooded, steaming fumarole.

Snorkel or dive in a unique underwater world where geothermic vents release streams of tiny, warm bubbles from the sea. floor. This champagne effect, combined with vibrant reef life, makes for an unforgettable experience.
  • Emerald Pool
This magical, grotto-like spot is one of the islands most accessible natural wonders. A short walk through the rainforest leads to. a beautiful 40-foot waterfall cascading into a stunning, emerald-green pool perfect for a swim.
  • Trafalgar Falls
This is Dominicas most famous waterfall, a spectacular twin cascade tumbling side-by-side. An easy, 10-minute walk through the rainforest leads you. to a viewing platform, with the option to swim in the hot and cold.
