Saint John sits where the Bay of Fundys world-record tides create one of natures most dramatic shows: the Reversing Falls Rapids, where the river literally changes direction twice daily. The city's industrial port vibe gives way to a revitalized downtown with Victorian architecture, the City Market (Canada's oldest continuing farmers market since 1876), and a growing craft beer scene. The Bay of Fundy coastline is the real star—at low tide, you can walk the ocean floor among rock formations carved over millennia, then watch the world's highest tides rush back in hours later. Hopewell Rocks, about an hours drive, showcases the bays tidal extremes with flowerpot-shaped rock formations. Saint Johns historic Uptown has seen better days, but thats changing as artists, restaurants, and boutiques move into the heritage buildings. Fog rolls in frequently (its a Bay of Fundy thing), adding atmosphere to the lighthouses and coastal scenery.
