You’ve probably heard that Virgin Voyages Black Friday deals are the best time of year to book, and you want to know whether to book now or wait. On October 22, before Virgin announced anything, Serious Sailors® saved the fares and full price history for 10 named sailings. On launch day, we’ll put the sale price next to the October price for each one. This guide covers what Virgin offered in 2025, the sailings we’re watching, a simple book-now-or-wait rule, and what happens to a booking you’ve already made.
Compare the price, not the percentage. A sale is only lower if the total you pay for the same cabin is lower than it was before the sale started — and the only way to know that is a record of the fare from before.
We have that record. Since July 2026, we’ve logged the fare of every Virgin sailing three times a day, and every voyage page shows its price-history chart. If a fare moves before the promo appears, the chart shows it.
“Is the discount real?” is one of the questions we hear most every November. It’s a fair question, and it deserves an answer with numbers rather than opinions in either direction.

If two Sailors each have a $1,000 voyage fare, “80% off the second Sailor” means paying $1,000 plus $200. That’s $1,200 instead of $2,000 — 40% off each person.
Virgin’s Promotional Terms & Conditions spell out the same logic for the offer running now: “70% Off 2nd Sailor” gives each Sailor “a total discount of 35% off their retail (base) voyage fare.” The discount comes off the voyage fare, not taxes, fees and port expenses.
Pro Tip: On sale day, open the sailing’s price chart, pick the same cabin category you priced in October, and compare per-person totals. A bigger percentage off a higher fare can cost you more than a smaller percentage off a lower one.
The 2025 sale paired 40% off each voyage fare with a bonus Bar Tab and a set of low-price sailings. A preview appeared in late October, and Virgin’s November 7, 2025 press release said the offer ran through December 4, 2025, on voyages through 2027.
| Element | Black Friday 2025 | Published offer (as of Oct 23, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Headline discount | 80% off 2nd Sailor (40% off each) | 70% off 2nd Sailor (35% off each) |
| Booking window | Preview ~Oct 31; offer through Dec 4, 2025 | Sep 1 – Nov 2, 2026 |
| Drinks | Bonus Bar Tab, “up to $400” or “up to $500” | None in the 70% offer terms |
| Extra savings | Select sailings “from $99 per Sailor per night” | Instant Savings, up to $1,000 per cabin |
Treat 2026 as unconfirmed until Virgin announces it. As of October 23, 2026, no Black Friday release appears on Virgin’s press releases page, and the current terms page carries no Black Friday section.
Virgin’s own 2025 messaging used two figures. The press release said “up to a $400 Bar Tab,” while the Ahoy deals story (updated November 21, 2025) said “up to $500 in free drinks.” Both say “up to,” and neither page published the full tier grid — so the headline number was the ceiling, not what every cabin received.
Which cabins get the percentage off and which get the drinks credit are two different questions. The current 70% offer covers only Sea Terrace Meta Category cabins, The Sea View, Lock It In Rate Sea View, The Insider and Lock It In Rate Insider cabins. RockStar and Mega RockStar Suites aren’t on that list, and Solo Sea View and Solo Insider cabins are excluded.
Read the 2026 terms for your exact cabin before counting on either perk.
We froze fares and price history for 10 sailings on October 22, 2026, covering short Caribbean voyages, a transatlantic crossing, the Mediterranean and Alaska. Seven are below. Live fares and the price chart for each are on our Voyage Finder.
The last column counts days from December 4, 2026 to departure. That distance decides what cancelling and rebooking would cost you on a refundable fare.
| Caribbean sailing | Ship | Sail date | Days out on Dec 4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Southern Caribbean: Aruban Nights | Valiant Lady | Jan 9, 2027 | 36 (all funds final) |
| Grand Turk & Bimini Beach Club | Scarlet Lady | Jan 23, 2027 | 50 (credit, not cash) |
| Key West & Bimini Beach Club | Scarlet Lady | Feb 25, 2027 | 83 (credit, not cash) |
| Western Caribbean & Bimini Beach Club | Resilient Lady | Apr 11, 2027 | 128 (refund, minus deposit) |
| Long-haul sailing | Ship | Sail date | Days out on Dec 4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miami to Morocco & Spain Transatlantic | Scarlet Lady | Apr 24, 2027 | 141 (refund, minus deposit) |
| French Riviera, Spain & Ibiza Overnight | Resilient Lady | May 30, 2027 | 177 (refund, minus deposit) |
| Alaska Inside Passage & Glacial Fjords | Brilliant Lady | Jul 15, 2027 | 223 (refund, minus deposit) |
We don’t print fares here — they change daily. The chart on each voyage page is the record.
If you can book a refundable fare and you’re well outside 120 days, booking now usually costs you nothing in flexibility. Virgin’s Additional Terms & Conditions state that “the voyage fare you pay is locked-in, that is, the voyage fare will not increase.” Waiting is a bet that the sale beats today’s price and that your cabin is still there when it starts.

Your fare type decides most of this. Our breakdown of Base vs Essential vs Premium fares shows what each allows, and our guide on when to book Virgin Voyages covers pricing patterns beyond November.
Booking Tip: The current 70% offer closes November 2, 2026, and its 35%-off total is a known number today. A 40%-off sale only comes out cheaper if the base fare rises by less than about 8% (0.60 × 1.083 ≈ 0.65). Check the chart — that’s exactly the movement it records.
Ask about repricing before you cancel anything. Virgin’s published terms don’t promise that an existing booking moves to a new promotion, so the fallback is cancelling and rebooking — and that follows the cancellation rules for your fare type and timing. Our price match and reprice guide covers how repricing has worked in practice.
Both are non-refundable, so there’s no cancel-and-rebook path. Lock-It-In Sea View and Insider fares do qualify for the current 70% offer but are excluded from Instant Savings. Before assuming you’re stuck, read our guide to repricing a Lock-It-In rate.
At 44 days, “all funds paid are final,” though Virgin’s terms allow someone to go in your place up to 48 hours before the voyage. Our guide to a price drop after final payment covers your options. Tour operator bookings may follow that operator’s terms rather than Virgin’s.
The winner changes sailing by sailing, so we’ll compare all three on launch day using real totals. The combining rules are already published, and they decide which pairings are even possible.
Pro Tip: If you hold an MNVV and want a Sea Terrace, price it two ways — the sale fare with your MNVV, and our group rate with your MNVV. Pick the lower per-person total, not the bigger percentage.
Free Serious Sailors members get an email the day Virgin’s sale goes live, linking straight to the before-and-after table below. Your First Mate can also watch a specific sailing and cabin category for you. Last year’s preview started in late October, so set this up now.
Status as of October 23, 2026: sale not yet announced. On launch day, this section will show each tracked sailing’s October 22 fare beside its sale fare — same cabin category, per-person total after all discounts — plus whether the base fare moved before the promo appeared.
If the sale is lower, the numbers will show it. If a fare rose first, they’ll show that too.
In 2025, Virgin advertised select sailings “from $99 per Sailor per night.” That’s a starting price on specific dates and cabins, not a fleet-wide rate, and the qualifying list wasn’t published in the terms. Check each sailing directly.
In 2025, the bonus Bar Tab came bundled with the voyage offer rather than as a discounted add-on. A Bar Tab covers drinks only, so at the same face value, Sailor Loot is worth more. Our Bar Tab vs Sailor Loot comparison explains why.
Yes — bookings can be held for 24 hours without a deposit, up to 45 days before sailing. After that, a 20% deposit confirms the reservation. Inside 44 days, full payment is due at booking.
November reliably brings Virgin’s biggest headline percentage. Whether it brings the lowest price depends on the individual sailing — which is why we track fares year-round.
Virgin’s 2026 Black Friday offer isn’t announced yet, and last year’s “80% off” meant 40% off each fare. The price you pay matters more than the percentage, so check your sailing’s chart and lock in a refundable fare if today’s total already works.
