The Virgin Voyages Sailing Club is Virgin’s loyalty program for repeat Sailors — and it works differently than what you might be used to from other cruise lines. There are no points to track, no elite tiers to memorize, and no complicated earn-and-burn systems. You sail, you qualify, and perks start showing up automatically on future voyages.
This guide breaks down how the Sailing Club works, what Blue Extras and Deep Blue Extras actually include, which voyages count toward earning perks, and the critical exclusions that trip up even experienced Sailors.
The Sailing Club is Virgin Voyages’ loyalty program, and it’s refreshingly simple. There’s no app to join, no forms to fill out, and no membership card. Complete one eligible paid voyage, and you’re automatically enrolled. Starting January 1, 2024, any Sailor who has sailed at least once on a paid, eligible voyage is a Sailing Club member.
From there, perks are earned based on how many eligible voyages you complete — not how much you spend, not what cabin you book. Just how many times you’ve sailed.
One important timing detail: credit for each voyage is accrued 30 days after the voyage ends. So if you’re booking back-to-back sailings and you qualify for the next perks level during the first voyage, those upgraded perks won’t apply to the second voyage. They’ll kick in on your next eligible sailing after the 30-day processing window.
There are two perks levels in the Sailing Club. Blue Extras is the first tier, and Deep Blue Extras is the top tier. Both are earned per Sailor — not per cabin — so if you’ve earned Deep Blue Extras but your cabin mate hasn’t, only you receive the individual perks. That said, a couple of benefits do extend to your cabin mate.
| Perk | Blue Extras (3rd–4th voyage) | Deep Blue Extras (5th+ voyage) |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated Sailor Services | ✓ | ✓ |
| Cocktail Event | ✓ (cabin mate can join) | ✓ (cabin mate can join) |
| Laundry Service | 1 bag of laundry | 2 pressed items, 1 specialty cleaned item, 1 bag of laundry |
| Specialty Coffee | 1 per day | 2 per day |
| $100 Promotional Bar Tab | — | ✓ |
| Unlimited Premium WiFi (where available) | — | ✓ |
| Priority Boarding | — | ✓ (cabin mate can join) |
After completing two eligible voyages, Blue Extras perks activate on your third sailing. They include dedicated Sailing Club Sailor Services support, an invitation to a cocktail event (your cabin mate can attend too), one bag of laundry per voyage, and one specialty coffee per day.
These are meaningful perks — especially the laundry service on longer itineraries and the daily specialty coffee, which would otherwise often cost $4–6 each at the bar.
Deep Blue Extras is where the Sailing Club gets genuinely valuable. After four eligible voyages, your fifth and every subsequent eligible sailing includes everything from Blue Extras plus a $100 promotional Bar Tab, unlimited Premium WiFi (where available), priority boarding, and upgraded laundry service.
The $100 Bar Tab alone is a substantial perk. It works the same as a purchased Bar Tab — applied to your folio, usable on drinks onboard and at The Beach Club at Bimini. It’s a promotional credit, so it’s non-refundable and can’t be cashed out, but it takes a real bite out of your onboard spending.
The unlimited Premium WiFi is the other standout. If you’ve ever debated whether to buy a WiFi package onboard, Deep Blue Extras removes that decision entirely.
Pro Tip: The $100 Bar Tab from Deep Blue Extras is applied to your folio only — not your cabin mate’s. If you’re traveling with someone who drinks more than you do, remember you can buy drinks for them using your Bar Tab. You just need to be the one ordering at the bar.
In September 2026, Virgin Voyages announced that both Blue Extras and Deep Blue Extras perks have been extended through December 31, 2028. This came alongside the milestone of reaching two million Sailors across the fleet.
This extension is significant. The original Sailing Club T&Cs referenced a December 31, 2026 end date for these perks packages. The 2028 extension means Sailors who’ve been building toward loyalty perks have two additional years of guaranteed benefits — and Sailors who are just starting to accumulate eligible voyages now have a longer runway to reach Blue Extras or Deep Blue Extras before the program’s next evolution.
Pro Tip: If you’re sitting at two or three eligible voyages, this extension gives you real breathing room. You don’t need to rush a booking just to hit Blue Extras before a deadline. Plan your sailings at your own pace — the perks will be waiting.
Not every Virgin Voyages sailing counts toward earning Sailing Club perks. This is the area that causes the most confusion — and the most frustration — among Sailors.
An eligible voyage is a full-fare sailing booked under a qualifying fare type. As of October 7, 2025, Base, Essential, and Premium fare bookings are all eligible for the Sailing Club.
The following booking types are excluded — they don’t count toward earning perks, and even if you’ve already earned perks, you won’t receive your benefits on these voyages:
That last point catches people off guard. If you scored a free or deeply discounted voyage through a points program, a casino comp, or an Access Key giveaway, that voyage doesn’t count. It won’t add to your tally, and you won’t receive your earned perks onboard.
Booking Tip: If you’re close to unlocking Deep Blue Extras, pay attention to how you book your next voyage. A discounted Access Key sailing might save money upfront but won’t move you closer to the $100 Bar Tab, free WiFi, and priority boarding that come with Deep Blue Extras. Sometimes the full-fare booking is the better long-term play. Your First Mate at Serious Sailors can help you weigh the trade-off.
The perks are generous, but they come with specific constraints that are easy to miss.
Specialty coffees must be ordered at bars or restaurants onboard. They cannot be ordered through Ship Eats (room service delivery). Alcoholic coffee cocktails are not included. Blue Extras Sailors get one per day; Deep Blue Extras Sailors get two per day. The credit doesn’t roll over — use it or lose it each day.
Laundry is not available on the final day of the voyage, regardless of your Sailing Club tier. Express service is also excluded. For Deep Blue Extras Sailors, the upgraded laundry allocation includes 2 pressed items, 1 specialty cleaned item, and 1 bag of laundry — a real upgrade for longer sailings or transatlantic crossings.
Bar Tab, WiFi, laundry, and coffee charges from Sailing Club perks may initially appear on your onboard account. Don’t panic. These charges are waived before your credit card is charged at the end of the voyage. It’s not the smoothest experience — Sailors routinely report a moment of confusion seeing charges on their folio — but the system does clear them.
Deep Blue Extras includes a dedicated priority boarding queue at Terminal V and select other embarkation ports. Your cabin mate can join you in the priority line as long as you arrive together. If you want to make the most of embarkation day, selecting your boarding time early in the app is still worth doing — priority boarding gives you a faster line and an earlier boarding time.
Yes. Virgin Voyages runs a Status Match program that lets Sailors with loyalty status from other cruise lines (and now elite airline and hotel programs) jump into the Sailing Club and enjoy Blue Extras on one eligible new sailing.
The current Status Match window requires Sailors to apply and book by October 31, 2026. After approval, Virgin sends an Access Key by email that must be used during checkout on a new, eligible booking. The Access Key is not automatically applied — you need to enter it at the time of booking. It cannot be retroactively added to an existing reservation.
The most recent enhanced Status Match offer (September 24 through October 31, 2026) is limited to one sailing per Sailor. Duplicate or incomplete submissions may not be processed.
Pro Tip: If you’re coming from another cruise line or have elite status with an airline or hotel chain, the Status Match is one of the fastest ways to experience Sailing Club perks without waiting to build voyage history. Just make sure you apply and book within the window — the deadlines are firm.
Virgin Voyages has announced exclusive 2027 Red Hot Sailing Club Voyages — special sailings designed to celebrate Sailing Club members. Two are currently on the calendar: a July 4–11, 2027 voyage from Athens and a November 8–13, 2027 voyage from Miami. These are expected to feature exclusive events and experiences for returning Sailors.
If you’re working toward earning Sailing Club perks, these voyages give you something concrete to aim for. They’re a signal that Virgin is investing in its repeat Sailors and building community around the loyalty program.
One of the best things about the Sailing Club is that the perks layer on top of other benefits. If you’ve booked with a My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) certificate, your Sailing Club perks typically still apply. If you’ve purchased a separate Bar Tab onboard, the $100 promotional Bar Tab from Deep Blue Extras can stack with it.
The one exception worth noting: the Sailor Loot promotional credits and Sailing Club Bar Tab credits are separate items on your folio. They don’t merge automatically — they’re tracked independently. But they all work toward reducing your onboard spending.
Log into your Virgin Voyages account and check your Sailing Club page. It may show your qualifying voyage count and which perks level you’ve unlocked. If the count doesn’t look right, contact Sailor Services — especially if you’ve had bookings that were reclassified or cancelled.
No. Access Key bookings, free voyage fares, and deeply discounted promotional fares do not count toward earning Sailing Club perks. Even if you’ve already earned Blue Extras or Deep Blue Extras, you will not receive your perks on an excluded voyage type.
Per Sailor. Each person in a cabin earns and receives perks independently based on their own voyage history. However, your cabin mate can join you for the cocktail event and priority boarding, regardless of their own Sailing Club status.
Yes — and the program has expanded to include elite airline and hotel loyalty members as well. You’ll need to apply, provide proof of status, and book a new eligible voyage using the Access Key that Virgin sends after approval. Full details are on the Serious Sailors Status Match guide.
You don’t need to activate anything. If you’ve earned perks and you’re sailing on an eligible voyage, they’re applied to your folio automatically. Charges for included items (WiFi, coffee, laundry, Bar Tab) may appear during the voyage but are waived before your card is charged at disembarkation.
The Virgin Voyages Sailing Club rewards loyalty without making you work for it. Sail on eligible voyages, let the perks accumulate, and by your fifth sailing you’re looking at free Premium WiFi (where available), a $100 Bar Tab, priority boarding, and daily specialty coffees — all extended through 2028. If you’re planning your next voyage and want to make sure it counts toward your Sailing Club progress, reach out to a Serious Sailors™ First Mate who can confirm your fare type qualifies and help you maximize every sailing.
